Both founders of Rocky Mountain Sportswomen, Elena and Jaime, fell in love with hunting through chasing wild turkeys. For many people from the east coast or the mid-west, Spring turkey season is as exciting as our elk hunting season here in the west. These majestic birds, that almost became our National bird, are vocal, smart, and get fired up during mating season. Although Springtime in the west isn’t as warm and green like it is in other areas of the country, there are still turkeys to hunt in the high country. With a month and a half long season here in Colorado, we want to share some of our favorite resources with you on facts about wild turkeys and how to hunt them.
Legalities of Hunting Turkeys in Colorado
The most important thing to be sure of when hunting any species, is knowing the laws, regulations, and how to obtain tags. All About Wild Turkeys
As hunters and conservationists, it is important to be knowledgeable about the species we love to pursue. This includes their biology, daily habits, habitat, and various conservation efforts for America’s wild turkey population. The National Wild Turkey Federation website is an excellent resource for learning all about wild turkeys. Founded in 1973, the NWTF has played a major role in saving the wild turkey species and increasing their populations all across the U.S. Here are some of our favorite sources in learning about these majestic birds
